Hourly TCI by administrative level 3

Hourly TCI by administrative level 3#

In the previous analysis, we observed that the hourly distribution of TCI on the island did not follow the expected patterns of morning and afternoon peaks, as previously observed in other cities. Given that Bali’s traffic might be influenced not only by commuters but also by tourists, and that traffic in some areas might be more heavily affected by the behavior of one of these groups, we decided to plot the hourly TCI by administrative level 3.

By inspecting the Tues-Wed-Thu as a representation of weekdays for both, July and August we came with a classification of the administrative level based on what group, commuter or tourist, seems to dominate the traffic behavior. Below you can find the results:

  • Commuter: Abiansenal, Kediri, Kediri, sukawat

  • Tourist: Blahbatuh, Denpasar Barat, Gianyar, Kuta, Payangan, Tabanan, Tampaksirig, Tegallalang, Ubud

  • Mixed: Denpasar Selatan, Denpasar Timur, Denpasar Utara, Kuta Selatan, Kuta Utara, Mengwi
