Data Cover Page#

This document provides important information on how the geovariables which accompany the KASAI Household Survey were generated. The survey itself was conducted in the provinces of Kasai, Kasai Central and Kasai Orientale in the Democratic republic of Congo in 2022 and 2023. For those who would like to get an in-depth understanding of how the geovariables were generated, please read this document. The document contains the following information:

  • Links to detailed metadata of all the geovariables

  • Links to source code which was used to generate the data

  • Definitions and description of some of the geovariables if needed

Survey Coordinates and Anonymization#

The GPS coordinates of households and plots could be used to reidentify survey respondents. As such they are considered confidential and are not part of the public use data. A set of anonymized coordinates is provided in the data for dissemination, to facilitate the integration of spatial data and enable spatial analysis, while preserving the confidentiality of sample household and communities. Please refer to this survey report for detailed description of the anonymization methodology.
