Applying a geographic lens to pressing policy questions on poverty and inequality
Published

January 30, 2024

Overview

We apply a geographic lens to pressing policy questions on poverty and inequality. Whether it’s identifying where jobs are (and aren’t) for the poor, mapping urban deprivation, or analyzing rural income dynamics, we use spatially disaggregated data to generate actionable insights.

Our Approach

We work with diverse data sources including:

  • Household surveys
  • Censuses
  • Administrative records
  • Private sector data
  • Satellite-based remote sensing

Our analysis covers everything from climate and land use to infrastructure and conflict.

Tools and Methods

We develop and share open, reproducible code and tools that can be adapted across countries and topics.
